Unit 1 Choice 3. Romans 6. Baptism

Review Romans 6:1-13

What must be done with sin before baptism can occur?
We shall not serve sin.

What events from Christ’s life are symbolized in baptism?
His death, his burial, and His resurrection.

Concerning this symbolism, why shouldn’t someone be baptized by sprinkling?
As we go completely under the water we are symbolizing Christ’s burial. Christ was not partially buried. He was completely buried so that He could rise again and be resurrected. If we want to be like Him, we must do the things He did.

What do these verses teach about how we can maintain the “newness of life?”
Be being baptized, we are participating in one of the saving ordinances. So when we do thing and continue to follow Heavenly Father, we shall also be resurrected and be able to live with him again.

According to Mosiah 3:19, what part of us would ideally die at baptism?
The natural man which is the part of us that wants to sin.

Study Romans 6:14-23. Write a paragraph that describes how we know whose servants we are. Then write a statement identifying the true source of freedom.

When we are baptized we become servants of God though righteousness. Everyday we must decide if we are going to continue to be servants of God or servants of evil. If we follow God we are promised eternal life. Therefore, we are truly free when we obey God.
